✦ Synopsis

Abstract

An analytical technique, called the scattering matrix method, is developed to analyze the scattering of a plane wave from a nonuniform ferrite cylinder. It is proved that the derived formulas for nonuniform ferrite cylinders can be degenerated to the formulas for uniform ferrite cylinders published in the literature. The characteristics of scattering by ferrite cylinders with a linear profile are investigated versus applied magnetic fields and wave frequencies. © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. ## Abstract A modified method of lines is developed for solving electromagnetic scattering problems, when TM plane waves are incident on cylindrical structures with dielectric properties that are function of two spatial directions. Numerical performance of the proposed method are examined and found
