✦ Synopsis

Makrofol KG (polycarbonate, A. G. Bayer, F. R. G.) is an often used material for making nuclear track filters. This work presents the post-irradiation effects of u.v.-exposures (0-15h on each face) in the presence of air on the Makrofol KG (60/~m) irradiated with 14.2 MeV/n 23s U ions. Using electrolytically controlled etching with 6N NaOH as electrolyte and etchant at 45 + I°C, it is found that there is a decrease in break-through time with increasing exposures of u.v. The characteristic pore-growth profiles and etch-rates are also obtained and discussed.
