✦ Synopsis

A chromatographic process able to separate p-xylene (I) from C8 isomers and C9 aromatics involves contacting the mixtures with an X or Y zeolite having Group IA or IIA cations at exchangeable cationic sites to effect the selective adsorption of I, removing the nonadsorbed feed, and recovering, I by desorption with tetralin.
