✦ Synopsis

There exist several processes for mass transfer of charged molecules under the action of an electric field. Well-known examples are electrodialysis and electrophoresis. The paper presents a novel electric mass transfer process where the mass transfer takes place across the interface of two liquid phases. The principles of mass transfer under the action of an electric field and the criteria for choosing the second liquid phase are developed. Feasible fields of application and the design of a batch-flow and a continousflow apparatus are given.

## Abstract To avoid or mitigate scaling or thermal deterioration in the process of evaporation a novel process – Gas Carrying Evaporation (GCE) has been developed with the concept of an β€˜interfacial vaporization heat sink’. In the GCE process, an inert gas was introduced at the bottom of vertical
