Abstract

In order to develop novel electrochromic materials, 5,5′′‐dicyano‐2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophene (DCN3T), 5,5′′′‐dicyano‐2,2′:5′,2′′:5′′,2′′′‐tetrathiophene (DCN4T), 5,5′′′‐dimethoxy‐2,2′:5′,2′′:5′′,2′′′‐tetrathiophene (DMO4T) and 4,4′′‐bicarboxyl‐5,5′′‐bipropyl‐2,2′:5′,2′′‐terthiophene (BP3T‐DCOOH) were synthesized, and their electrochromic properties were studied. It was found that DCN3T, DCN4T, DMO4T and BP3T‐DCOOH as solid films showed reversible, clear color changes on electrochemical doping and dedoping.
