✦ Synopsis
Neutral transition metal(II) complexes of pyridine-2carbaldehyde pyridin-2'-ythydrazone (papyri) and several analogues have been PrePared by electrochemical synthesis. The [M(papy)2 ] compounds (M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu or Zn) were obtained mostly as red green dichroic substances as a result of the extended ~-conjugation system in the anionic hydrazone. Vibrational and electronic spectra confirm the presence of the anionic hydrazone and its tridentate coordination to the metal centre.
