✦ Synopsis
The electrochemical properties of 4,4'-azopyridine are studied by differential pulse, alternating current and cyclic voltammetry techniques. One reduction step corresponding to a redox potential value of 0.18 + 0.01 V/&e is observed. The electrochemical system seems to be more reversible with the mercury than with the gold electrode. Activating properties of 4,4'-azopyridine are evidenced by its addition into a cytochrome c sohtion or by transferred adsorbed film technique. In the presence of 4,4'-azopyridine or after adsorption of 4,4'-azopyridine on the gold electrode, the fast monoelectronic reduction-reoxidation of cytochrome c can be observed and leads to the value of 0.25 f 0.01 V/nhe for the ferri-ferrocytochrome c system.
