✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A glass containing 73 mol % SiO~2~, 6 mol % BeO and 21 mol % K~2~O has been made and used as a glass‐electrode. This electrode responds rather well to potassium‐ and sodium‐ions, but not to calcium‐ions, and has a rather poor response to hydrogen‐ions.

## Abstract A previously published research ^2^ with membranes of a BeO‐containing glass was continued. Electrodes of the glass in question show increasing responsiveness to monovalent cations according to the series: C~3~H~7~(NH~3~)^+^ < Li^+^ < Na^+^ < NH~4~^+^ < K^+^ < Rb^+^ < Ag^+^ < H^+^. In

Preliminary results on electrochemical and structural properties of the cation deficient oxide Mnr.sOd system are discussed in terms of its viability as an electrode for rechargeable lithium batteries. Chronopotentiometric measurements show two well-defined steps in the potential range of 3.5 V-2.0
