✦ Synopsis
The kinetics of the temperature induced &P-phase transition of silver sulfide has been investigated using solid galvanic cells of the type Ag 1 o-AgI 1 Ag,S. Single precipitation events have been observed during the p + cx transformation, where 01 indicates the low temperature modification. The nucleation free enthalpy of excess silver in Ag,+,S has been determined and the influence of elastic stress in the Ag precipitation process is considered.
