✦ Synopsis

The diffusion current of Cd*+ in a H20-D20 system with a supporting electrolyte of 0.1 M KC1 + 0.01 M HCl has been studied as a function of parameters such as time, height of the mercury reservoir and electrolyte temperature.

The characteristics of the process are those of a reversible diffusion-controlled process. In the H&D*0 system, the values of the diffusion current were smaller than the corresponding ones in H,O, at 25Β°C. The decrease was proportional to D,O concentration when this was greater than 35 per cent. This fact may be used as an analytical means of determining D,O in H,O mixtures.
