✦ Synopsis

We have investigated in this study and for the ®rst time the ability of electropolymerized cobalt porphyrin ®lm on vitreous carbon electrode to catalyze the electrooxidation of 2-mercaptoethanol, by lowering its oxidation potential by ca. 0.7 V. These results extend the use of such electrocatalytically active ®lm to the ®eld of the activation of thiols and offer a new interesting alternative to do so.
