Importance of spatial interactions

Among others KELLY (1959) and DENIER VAN DER GON (1959) have shown that the course of the low frequency part of the De La'nge-curve for the human eye is strongly influenced by the relative brightness and general configuration of the field surrounding the testfield.

One kind of spatial interaction was studied by LEV~NSON (1964). In that study threshold shift was used as a criterion for the magnitude of the interaction between differently shaped fields -the influences of brightness, frequency, modulation percentage and phase were studied. oo o IM,-M~I I [ ~Zt M,-M, 1 2 0 ~ ~...F~I~T -!20', 0 ~" ' ~ ~J 0
