✦ Synopsis

Electrical resistivity measurements of the insulating Ba 1Àx K x BiO 3 (x = 0, 0.15) under high pressure up to 8 GPa have been performed in order to search for the pressure-induced superconductivity, using a cubic-anvil pressure system. A polycrystal of BaBiO 3 has been prepared by the solid-state reaction method. A single crystal of Ba 0.85 K 0.15 BiO 3 has been synthesized by the electrochemical method from molten salts. The electrical resistivity of both compounds slightly decreases with increasing pressure. However, the temperature dependence still remains semiconductive and no superconductivity is observed.
