✦ Synopsis
WHILST phlebography of the lower extremity and lower half of the body has received adequate attention, no systematic work on the phlebography of the upper half of the body exists, Doz. Drewes's monograph is filling the gap in describing X-ray appearances of the normal venous system of the arm, axilla, neck, and mediastinum, and the anatomical variants encountered. Haemodynamic phenomena simulating stenosis, blockage, and compression of the axillary and subclavian veins are discussed in detail. The position and function of normal venous valves and collateral circulation in cases of organic obstruction are illustrated by excellent phlebograms beautifully reproduced. The book, which contains an extensive bibliography, will be of interest to anatomists, radiologists, and surgeons.
