Without it there could be no astronomy, no .physics, no chemistry, no engineering, no architecture. There could be no trade, no commerce; take it away and the whole fabric of civilization would disappear. It is a great pleasure and privilege to sound its praises in the hall of an institution that has contributed so largely ~to its development.
