is so rarely reported in withdrawal dyskinesias and may well have a predilection for elderly dementing patients (Michelin et al., 1993;Stewart et al., 1993). The observations agrees with the proposed central dopaminergic supersenitivity model for oral dyskinesias in rats (Sunden-Kuronen et al., 1983). The second point of note is that risperidone is generally associated with a lower frequency of extra pyramidal symptoms (under 8±10 mg daily dose) and can provide a good alternative to traditional neuroleptics in situations when a tight rope between Parkinsonian side eects/tardive dystonia/ dyskinesia and clinical ecacy has to be walked (Allen, 1995).
