โฆ Synopsis
aBSWRACT: The lose of resisting moment through plastic strain, M~, is shown to have the same effect on the curvature of the beam as the applied moment. The gradient of M~, along the span is equivalent to the applied distributed moment in causing deflection of the beam. The analogy between an elastoplastic beam and an identical elastic beam with an additional set of external moment is proven. A metlwd of elastoplastic analysis of an indeterminate beam subject to an arbitrary sequence of loads is shown. A numerical example of a uniformly loaded beam with fixed ends subject to loading and then reversed loading in the inelastic range is given. This method may be extended to ultimate analysis of rigid frames subject to arbitrary sequence of loadings.

The problem of lateral vibration of an axially loaded infinite uniform Bernoulli-Euler beam is investigated by setting up a model of the infinite beam with a harmonically varying, transverse concentrated force at the centre of the beam. A static axial load either tensile or compressive is applied to
