✦ Synopsis

A new high-temperature elwtomer, SiB-2, has been investigated by stress relaxation, niodulis-temperature, and volume-temperature techniques. SiB-2 was found to be more stable than a related elastomer, radiation-cured silicone rubber, having about twice as long a chemical relaxation time at 250Β°C. Possible mechanisms to account for this increased stability are discussed. At low temperatures, T , for SiB-2 was estimated at -34"C., which compares well with T, = -3OOC. for this polymer. By comparison, SiB-3 has T , = -60Β°C., while phenyl-modified SiB-4 was found to have T, = -25Β°C. T , for SiB-2 was estimated to be f 56Β°C.

## Abstract **Summary:** Nanocomposites were formulated by curing a sonicated mixture of epoxy resin, C18 clay, and acrylic rubber dispersants. At 5.5 phr (parts per hundred) organoclay loading and a rubber concentration of 15 phr, the tensile‐failure strain of the nanocomposite was found to be hig
