✦ Synopsis
Abstract
We have calculated the elastic modulus for polyethylene glycol. It has the magnitude of 4.5 × 10^10^ − 4.8 × 10^10^ dyne/cm.^2^ and it is smaller than the previously calculated values for (A)~n~ and (A~1~A~2~)~n~‐type polymers. The small magnitude is thought to be due to the large changes of the internal rotation angles in polyethylene glycol. The calculation of elastic moduli has been applied to poly‐3,3‐bis(halomethyl)oxacyclobutanes in order to examine the relation between their elastic moduli and van der Waals radii of the halogen atoms.
