✦ Synopsis
Superconducting Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O and Bi(Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O f'flms (0.03-2.5t~m) are prepared by deposition onto MgO (200) single crystal substratesin a DC single target sputtering system (pure Ar plasma) and post-deposition anneal. Annealing condition studies show that the Tc values are very dependent on the peak annealing temperature and annealing time, which have to be lowered for thinner films. Our best films have a Tc value of 87 K for Bi films and 89 K for Pb substituted films. From X ray analysis they are mainly constituted of the 22!2 phase and are c-axis oriented. Films are also characterized for their composition by RBS and EDAX analysis and for their morphology by SEM examination.
