Estimado lector: Antes de tirar al suelo este pésimo libro y echar a correr hasta perderlo de vista, creo que debo explicarte por qué deberías actuar de ese modo. Únicamente en este libro se cuenta con todo detalle el desgraciado paso de los hermanos Baudelaire por el Hospital Heimlich, hecho que lo convierte en uno de los libros más tristes del mundo. En la vida hay muchas cosas agradables sobre las que escribir, pero ninguna de ellas aparece en estas páginas. En cambio, sí encontrarás infinidad de temas plomizos: tenderos recelosos, operaciones quirúrgicas innecesarias, sistemas de megafonía, anestesias, globos en forma de corazón y también ciertos datos sorprendentes relacionados con un incendio. Nada apasionante, como pronto verás. Me he comprometido a desentrañar esa historia y relatarla lo mejor posible, por eso me permito recomendarte que dejes el libro tirado en el suelo, donde seguro lo has encontrado.
