The ambident anion 8 of 2‐(anilinomethylene)dimedone (7) is easily acyloxylated at carbon by diacyl peroxides 9 to yield 11. By solvolysis of 11 the corresponding 2‐acyloxydimedones 5 are obtained in high yields.
