Abstract
A simplification of the two collimator lenses system preferably used in electrophoresis and diffusion apparatus as well as in ultracentrifuges is described by which the functions of the second collimator lens and the objective are transfered to a single objective which replaces them fully. The advantages of the known optical system, especially the illumination of the cells with parallel light, the reduced over‐all length of the system and its versatility are completed, in the new optical system, by lower losses of light and by the dispense with a supplementary optical correction.
