✦ Synopsis
EFOY fuel cells now available as standard in Ridas yachts
G erman-based SFC Energy reports that Ridas Yacht & Composites in Estonia is the first yacht manufacturer to provide its EFOY fuel cells as standard equipment for clean power generation onboard its yachts. The yacht builder produces its own range of sailboats, as well as models and molds for other leading constructors such as Stern, Sentijn, and Clarc.
EFOY direct methanol fuel cells are now available as standard equipment in all Ridas brand yachts, and optional for yachts manufactured by Ridas Y&C. EFOY fuel cells have been proven in harsh and demanding maritime conditions in recent years, including transatlantic races [FCB, February 2010].
'For us, the EFOY is the power source of choice for yachts, not only because it combines important aspects like autonomy, high comfort, eco-friendly energy supply as well as safety,' says Ridas Kaleininkas of Ridas Y&C. 'Especially in the field of racing we consider the lightweight EFOY as a decisive competitive advantage, because it provides continuous power and significantly improves the performance.'
Earlier this year SFC announced Thermoprodukter AB as its EFOY distribution partner for the marine market in Sweden [FCB, June 2010], and also that EFOY units would be available from Arcona Yachts in Sweden [FCB, August 2010].
SFC is also the leading supplier of fuel cell power sources for recreational vehicles and other vehicle auxiliary power applications [FCB, October 2010], as well as portable or small stationary applications in the leisure, industrial, and defense markets [FCB, November 2010].
