Abstract
We propose a scheme to improve the transmission efficiency of radio over fiber system, which is to constitute a local area optical network with many micro cell base stations centering on the remote node. All the data switching among base stations within this optical network will be realized by the wavelength allocation module of the remote node instead of the central office. Such a method has the advantage of economize the capacity of the backbone fiber between the center office and the remote node, therefore increases the transmission efficiency of the system. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
