✦ Synopsis

Condensation reactions of malonaldehyde tetramethyi acetal with p-substituted phenol derivatives and p-thiocresol have been carried out in ~fluoroacetic acid end the corresponding metheno-dibenzo[1,3]dinxocins end dithiocin type compounds were obtained in good to excellent yields. In the case of condensation of 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene with malonaldehyde tetramethyl acetal 8,16-metheno-16H-dinaphtho[2, l-d: l',2'-g]-[l,3]dioxocin-2,14-diol was obtained in high yield.
