Abstract

Under mild microwave irradiation conditions and without any additional organic solvents, a large variety of nitrones were prepared in a weak Lewis base phosphinite task‐specific ionic liquid (TSIL‐OPPh~2~) in excellent yields. This catalytic TSIL was also recyclable. Under optimized microwave irradiation conditions, the reaction occurred at very shorter reaction time and higher yields in comparison with conventional heating conditions. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
