✦ Synopsis
A photolytic, repetitively pulsed Br(4 2P,,2-4 2PJ,2) laser at 2.714 pm is demonstrated by photodissociation of IBr at 532 nm using a frequency-doubled Nd: YAG pump laser. Pulse energies of 3 ml at IO Hz are achieved, resulting in a maximum pump energy conversion effkiency of 1.5%. We also demonstrate iasing on ro-vibrational transitions of CO2 at 4.3 ,um and HCN at 3.9 pm by electronic-to-vibrational transfer from photolytically generated Br*.
