The luminescence of the bisdeoxyanalogueof coelenterazine (1b : X=Y=H) catalyzedby Oplophorus Iuciferase was highly efficient (0.19 quantdmolecule), almost comparable to the luminescence of unmodified coelentemzine (la : X=Y=OH), whereasthe luminescence of 1 b was very inefficientwhencatalyzedby apoaequorin or Reni/la Iucifemseand whenthe aequor'in regenerated with 1 b wasIuminesced with Ca2+. 01997 Elsevier ScienceLtd.
