✦ Synopsis

International Vocabulary.--The International Electrotechnical Commission plans early publication of the first edition of its international "Vocabulary." This work, undertaken soon after the St. Louis Electrical Congress in I9O4, contains some 2,000 scientific and industrial terms used in the various branches of electrotechnics. The committee of experts who compiled this work is composed of delegates from many countries. The whole work is divided into 14 sections, the first of which covers fundamental and general definitions. The others more specifically deal with: machines and transformers; switchgear and control gear; apparatus for scientific and industrial measurements;generation, transmission, distribution; electrical traction;power applications; thermic applications; lighting; electro-chemistry; telegraphy; telephony; radiology; electrobiology. Definitions appear in both English and French, and a translation of terms alone is given in German, Italian, Spanish, and

In order to verify pressure scales of gold, the atomic-volume dependence of Debye temperature under high pressure up to 14 GPa was measured based on Debye-Waller factor by an X-ray diffraction method. High-pressure and high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction patterns were collected by an energydis
