✦ Synopsis
A method is described by which it is possible to determine the sensitivities of a gamma-ray counter for the various wavelengths of the monochromatic components of a heterogeneous gamma radiation, if the intensities and the absorption coefficients of these components are known. To apply this method the absorption in lead of the gamma radiation of radium was measured with a counter. Though it was not possible to calculate the sensitivities directly by the method described, the solution could be found by trial. The relation between sensitivity and wavelength obtained in this way is somewhat different from that obtained by G. v o n D r o s t e from theoretical considerations.
