Abstract

Liquid hexane was irradiated by electrons at temperatures ranging from −60° to + 60°C. The influence of the irradiation temperature on the yields of octane, nonane, decane and dodecane was investigated. Relative yields of addition products containing secondary radical increase with temperature. This should be due to secondary hydrogen abstraction from the solvent by primary hexyl and fragment radicals at high temperature.
