Effects of superconductivity on elastic constants of La2−xSrxCuO4

✦ Synopsis

Ultrasonic and specific-heat measurements have been performed across the superconducting transition on a single crystal of Lax.s6Sr014CuO 4. A pronounced jump of the elastic constant AC33(Tc) = -0.15 GPa is observed at To = 34 K as well as a specific-heat jump Acr/T ~ = 9.6 mJ/K2mol, whereas a jump in C n is less obvious. The results allow quantitative estimation of the strain dependence of T~ and the condensation energy along the a and c axes.
