## Abstract In alcohols and esters, a neighbouring dialkylamino group can enhance the reactivity towards acylation and deacylation, respectively, that is, such amino alcohols can act as transacylation catalysts like DMAP. This effect is dependent on the number of (carbon) spacer atoms, flexibility
