✦ Synopsis
The microstructures and low-cycle fatigue properties of Al-Li alloys with and without Sc addition were investigated. The results showed that the addition of Sc in Al-Li alloy can change its microstructure conspicuously, and improve its low-cycle fatigue properties. Sc addition to Al-Li alloy decreases the growth rate of ␦ (Al 3 Li) particles, and promotes the precipitation of the S (Al 2 CuMg) phase. In addition, new strengthening phases, such as Al
