## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** The impact of glyphosate on ruminal fermentation, selective pressure on ruminal bacteria and horizontal transfer of the gene encoding 5‐enolpyruvylshikimate‐3‐phosphate synthase (__epsps__) to ruminal bacteria was studied using batch culture with glyphosate‐tolerant (Rou
