✦ Synopsis

Predicted and measured steady gasification rates of JP-10 drops supported at various locations in an open turbulent diffusion flame ale compared. Predictions were made considering both the presence and absence of envelope flames since they were observed for some positions where the local mean fuel equivalence ratio was less than unity. Predictions were in good agreement with measurements as long as the existence of envelope flames could be specified for local mean fuel equivalence ratios less than 0.9.

1 Mixtuxe fraction is the fraction of mass in the gaseous mixture that originated from the injector.
