Dogs, rhesus monkeys and rats were trained to avoid electric shock by using different discrete conditioned avoidance response procedures. Chlorpromazine selectively blocked avoidance behavior in the rat, but non-selectively blocked both avoidance and escape behavior in the dog and monkey. Morphine w
