Abstract
The characteristics of circulating blood lymphocytes in 16 patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on cyclophosphamide (CPA) were compared with 49 control RA patients and 70 normal volunteers. In all three groups the percentages of Bโ and Tโlymphocytes were the same. In untreated RA the absolute numbers of Bโ and Tโlymphocytes were lower than normal. During CPA therapy the absolute numbers of Bโ and Tโlymphocytes decreased markedly while the mean lymphocyte diameter increased significantly. The profound effects of CPA therapy on both Bโ and Tโlymphocytes may be related to the concomitant marked depression in humoral and cellโmediated immunity seen during CPA therapy.

## Abstract AntiโFab antibody titers were positive in 70% of rheumatoid arthritis patients (54 of 77) and 3% (1 of 35) of healthy donors. Their specificity was examined by inhibition of the radioimmunoassay for antiโFab antibodies, which demonstrated that they are against the Fd region of the intac
