✦ Synopsis
The crystal structure and magnetic properties of Sr 2 (Fe 1Àx Cr x )MoO 6 (0pxp0.4) have been investigated. In contrast to Sr 2 (Fe 1Àx Mn x )MoO 6 and Sr 2 Fe(Mo 1Àx W x )O 6 , the Cr doping results in a decrease of cationic ordering in Sr 2 (Fe 1Àx Cr x )MoO 6 . The saturation magnetization decreases with x and exhibits a linear dependence on the anti-site defect concentration. All the samples exhibit a semiconductor-metal transition. The low-field magnetoresistance increases with the saturation magnetization in a non-linear way. By assuming a preferential occupation of the Cr ions at the Mo sites, the dependence of magnetization on the Cr content can be well explained within a simple ferrimagnetic model.
