Nine sand rats maintained on a high fat diet gained weight, developed endogenous hypcrinsulinaemia and resistance to exogenous insulin without further deterioration in glucose tolerance. A four hour post glucose hyperinsulinaemia, noted in some animals on both diets, may represent a chronic stress t
