✦ Synopsis

We calculate several "size-like" 8B observables within the microscopic three-cluster model and study their potential constraints on the zero-energy astrophysical S17(0) factor of the 7Be(p,T)SB reaction. We find within our three-cluster model that a simultaneous reproduction of the experimental data for the SB radius and quadrupole moment and of the 8B-SLi Coulomb displacement energy implies S17( 0) = (23-25) eV b. The absolute cross section σ (E) for the radiative capture reaction 7 Be(p, γ ) 8 B at the center-ofmass energies E = 0.32 to 2.61 MeV has been measured using a 7 Be target deposited on a Cu backing and observing the β-delayed α-particles from 8 B. The backing causes a loss of less than 1% of the 8

Data for the 9 Be(p, γ) 10 B reaction with proton energies up to 1800 keV are fitted using Rmatrix formulae that include channel contributions where appropriate. The data include values of the astrophysical S factor, the branching ratios for γ-transitions to the four lowest states of 10 B, angular d
