## Abstract The toxicity to the cells and protoplasts of __Saccharomyces cerevisiae__ of the sugar analogues modified at carbon 2 increases in the order 2‐deoxy‐D‐glucose (DG), 2‐deoxy‐2‐fluoro‐D‐glucose (FG) and 2‐deoxy‐2‐fluoro‐D‐mannose (FM). The fluorohexoses, similarly as DG, behave generally
