✦ Synopsis

Effectiveness of rand~n fibers in composite naterials 8iKnifioantly affects the overall properties of composite nateriaA8. Bxpressions for effeotlvenes8 factors in two and thres di~ensione of random fibres are derived and it is shown that the efficiency of random fibres at a point in a speoJ~nen are dependent on the proxΒ£attΒ₯ of the point from the marfaoe of the specimen. This aepeot has technically eignificant implications An interpreting test data and in reoommend~ug design values from experimental s~udAe8 and these are discussed in detail. It Is also shown that the results obtained in this study are in 8greement with several earlier experimenta~ and theoretical studies.

In the present paper, the ultimate tensile strength, fracture toughness and surface fracture energy of continuously coated, uncoated fly-ash filled unidirectional glass fibre reinforced epoxy resin have been studied. The results show that the tensile strength and fracture toughness of fly-ash filled
