โœฆ Synopsis

Dear Sirs,

In a recent short letter to your journal regarding the paper by Yu and DouglasH] which treated the unsteady state behaviour of a non-porous catalyst pellet, I had the impression that the authors were writing the unsteady state balance equations for the catalyst pellet, and on this basis I concluded that Eq. (1) in their paper was erroneous since it represented diffusion in a porous structure, while the particle was non-porous.

In fact it seems that the authors meant the unsteady state diffusion equations for the external field (the surrounding gas). I, therefore, owe the authors an apology for misunderstanding their model.
