β¦ Synopsis
A general canonical Hamiltonian approach for singular Lagrangians with arbitrary order of time derivatives on the fields is presented. The BRST generator and the effective action is constructed. The formalism is applied to the analysis of the rigid string. The complete algebra of first class constraints and the BRST generator are obtained. The effective action under different gauge conditions is discussed. ic 1993 Academic Press. Inc.

We apply the string-inspired worldline formalism to the calculation of the higher derivative expansion of one-loop effective actions in non-Abelian gauge theory. For this purpose, we have completely computerized the method, using the symbolic manipulation programs FORM, PERL and M. Explicit results
The exact analytical solution of the optical soliton equation with higher-order dispersion and nonlinear effects has been obtained by the method of separating variables. The new type of optical solitary wave solution, which is quite different from the bright and dark soliton solutions, has been foun
