โœฆ Synopsis

Thermal performance of a parabolloid concentrator solar cooker depends greatly on the wind speed. Experiments have been conducted to study the effect of wind speed on heat loss parameter F'U L and hence on thermal performance of the cooker under simulated wind conditions. Correlations have been developed to express the F' UL as a function of wind speed and pot water temperature. Heating characteristic curves have been also developed with the variable values of F'UL and compared with those obtained from constant F'UI.

A mathematical model of the heat transfer processes involved with a box-type solar cooker, containing food, was developed. Solar radiation, including that from a flat reflector, enters the box and heat transfer within and out of the box was considered. Using small increments of time, the computer mo

In this paper thermal performance test experiments for "rst "gure of merit (without load) and second "gure of merit (with load) of a box type solar cooker were conducted as per Bureau of Indian Standards. The values of second "gure of merit ( F ) were determined for di!erent loads of water and the r
