β¦ Synopsis
72 Refractories/ceramics (properties, production, applications) composite implants from the bone demonstrated that the composite using HA fired at 1200" showed 20.6 MPa pull-out strength value for one month implantation.
It was confirmed using strength test results and scanning electron microscope analysis observations that HA-G-Ti composite consisting of HA fired at 1200" is the best composite, showing excellent mechanical strength and biocompatibility. 00/00545 Characterization of LDPE residual matrix deoosited on glass fibers by a dissolutionlreprecipitation recycling pro&s Zafeiropoulos, N. E. er al. Composites, Parr A, 1999, 30A, (7), 8311838. This paper examines the low-density polyethylene (LDPE) residual matrix that remains on the short glass fibres, following a recycling process of LDPE/glass composites. Scanning electron microscope analysis (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) characterized the residual matrix. DSC curves showed the existence of a different type of crystallinity, probably occurring because of the history of the sample along the stages that comprise the recycling process. Optical microscopy revealed that, in a subsequent use of the recycled fibres with new polyethylene matrix, the residual matrix could recrystallize to form a transcrystallized layer. The amount of residual matrix was shown to dictate the size of the transcrystallized layer. 05100546
