The result also implies that the diffusion actively occurs up to about l-2 l.trn from the exterior, but gradually decreases through the diameter of fiber. It may be reasonable that the diffused phosphorus somewhat contributes to retarding possible reactions with oxygen by blocking many active sites [14]. It was also found that the edge region of the fiber, which can be readily exposed to the oxidation condition, has a higher content of oxygen than the center.
