โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Summary: The polymerization characteristics of (octylamino)benzoic acid dimer phenyl esters with paraโ€meta (2), metaโ€para (3), and metaโ€meta (4) orientation of the amino and carbonyl groups were investigated. While treatment of 2 or 3 with a base gave the cyclic dimer 6 as the main product, condensation of 4 with an initiator in the presence of a base afforded polymers with narrow molecular weight distributions.

The condensation of 4 with an initiator in the presence of a base afforded polymers with narrow molecular weight distribution.
